Any Filipino teenager has been familiar and used any Ponds product at some point in their lives. It became a household name for beauty products, it’s a drugstore brand, it’s cheap and it delivers. But as years go by, we found and used other products, some are even expensive than Ponds. In the recent years, Ponds has evolved and from one variant, it released new range of products that cater to everyone’s special needs.

A recent TV commercial from Ponds shows the Ponds Pure White Deep Cleansing Foam with Activated Carbon. Activated carbon promises to remove deep-seated dirt and detoxify the skin from impurities. I wasn’t sold at the TV commercial but when I saw this product in the grocery with its sleek black packaging, I snagged a tube, yeah packaging counts!

As an expecting mom, I’m wary of not only what I eat but also on what I put on my skin. There are a lot of discussions on beauty products safe for pregnant women, some products to avoid are those containing salicylic acid, retinoids, atni-aging products, hair depilatories and hair dyes. In my quest of organic shampoo, I tried using Honey Propolis shampoo from Ilog Maria. I’m also searching for a cure to my greying damaged hair due to consecutive years of hair rebonding. Venus and Mars has come a long way from just selling emu oil-based soaps, they now have emu-oil based cosmetics and a mineral make-up line called Pureglow. I’m a fan of their Emu Lip Detox, a lip balm that does not contain petroleum jelly, but still keeps my dry lips moisturized throughout the day. I’m a low-maintenance gal, I just use baby powder on my face and I’m fine. But whenever I’m on a rush in the morning for work, I don’t have time to allow my sunblock to set and to dry for additional minutes that’s why I apply baby powder after. This causes some powder to clump in some areas, unsightly and very childish. So I decided to buy a powder foundation I can use this summer. I previously used Neutrogena powder foundation but I want to try other more affordable brands.

G-lish has stalls in malls and their very pretty and girly kiosks made me check out their products. They have Duo Foundation in a very sleek all-white compact, reminds me of VMV packaging. It’s also very slim, perfect to slip in a girl’s small bag. The sales attendant said that when it’s time to buy the refill, they will replace the whole compact with a new one, just bring the old compact too. Pretty neat especially that the compact is white and it will really get dirty over time.

I got the Duo Foundation in Shade #10 for Php 300. The G-lish Duo Foundation claims to have SPF and oil control.

On my first Etude House visit, much of my haul are lip products. I don’t wear make-up, just powder, cheek tint and lipstick/lip balm and I’m set. I use mascara and eyeliner sometimes but no eye make-up for me. I’m on a shopping binge lately for health and beauty products, perhaps too much reading the Girltalk forum is BI =). One of the raves is Styli-Style products especially the eyeliners. The girls are raving about it partly because there’s an Ebay seller that sells them dirt-cheap, Styli-Style Flat Liners are Php 75 each!!! Beauty Bar sells these at approximately Php 400. Human Heart Nature is a local company that sells organic, 100% Philippine ingredients and 100% chemical-free personal care products. Human Heart Nature products are one of my first few buys that are organic so I ordered trial sizes first especially their shampoo and conditioner. Trial sizes are 50 ml. and only priced at Php 29.75, (less than a dollar). Cyleina Organic Soaps has been popular in many online forums like Girltalk and Teentalk for almost 2 years now. The soaps are lovingly handmade and uses organic ingredients and pure essential oils to make the skin soft and moisturized. Perhaps, the reasons why Cyleina Organic Soaps are popular is because it’s affordable and effective.
